At ICA Counselling and Supervision, we believe healing happens in relationship — with ourselves, with our communities, and with care providers who truly see us.
Many of the people we support come to therapy feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure whether their struggles are “enough” to ask for help. We want to be clear: you do not need to be in crisis to deserve support. If life feels heavy, confusing, or out of alignment, that is reason enough.
A Trauma-Informed, Culturally Responsive Practice
ICA was built on the understanding that trauma does not exist in a vacuum. Our mental health is shaped by systems, culture, identity, migration, family roles, faith, and lived experience. That’s why our clinicians work from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive framework.
We take the time to understand the context of your life — including the parts that may have been overlooked or misunderstood elsewhere. Therapy at ICA is not about “fixing” you; it’s about creating safety, building skills, and reclaiming agency.
Who We Support
Our team supports individuals, couples, families, and children across Ontario and beyond through secure virtual care. We have particular experience working with:
-
Survivors of trauma and complex PTSD
-
Refugees, newcomers, and individuals navigating immigration stressors
-
Women, caregivers, and professionals experiencing burnout or compassion fatigue
-
Neurodivergent individuals, including ADHD and autistic clients
-
Clients seeking faith-sensitive or spiritually integrated therapy
-
Individuals living with chronic illness, grief, or major life transitions
We also work closely with community partners, lawyers, settlement agencies, and advocacy organizations to ensure clients receive holistic and coordinated support.
Accessible Care Matters
Access to mental health care should not be a privilege. ICA is proud to be an approved provider for programs such as the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) and to offer sliding-scale and pro bono services for eligible clients. We are committed to reducing barriers and meeting people where they are.
Healing should not require choosing between care and survival.
Our Approach
Our clinicians draw from evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness, and somatic approaches — always tailored to the client in front of us. Sessions are collaborative, paced, and grounded in consent.
We believe:
-
Your responses make sense in context
-
Skills are tools, not tests
-
Rest and boundaries are part of healing
-
Tenderness and resilience can coexist
