Maria Ostapenko is a Registered Psychotherapist who supports individuals navigating life transitions, stress, grief, and relationship or parenting challenges. She has a special interest in working with newcomers and individuals adjusting to major life changes, including migration, cultural transitions, and starting over in a new environment.
Before becoming a therapist, Maria worked closely with refugees and newcomers as a language instructor. This experience deeply shaped her understanding of how displacement, uncertainty, and change can impact emotional well-being, identity, and sense of belonging.
Maria’s approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. She focuses on helping clients feel safe, grounded, and supported, without pressure to share more than they are ready for. Her work integrates approaches such as IFS, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, and ACT, offering practical tools to manage emotions, build resilience, and reconnect with what matters most.
Fluent in English, Russian, and Spanish, Maria offers culturally sensitive care that honours each person’s unique story. She provides both in-person and virtual sessions across Ontario.
