Guided by Carl Rogers’s quote, “…How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their own personal growth?”, I believe every individual carries a story that shapes their present moment, and our minds and bodies can carry the effects of these narratives. Together, we can explore these experiences and discover what they reveal to you.

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), creating a space where you feel comfortable, supported, understood, and respected is central to my work, including providing a collaborative environment where you can express yourself, work toward your goals, and grow at your own pace. I support individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, stress, interpersonal relationships, grief, depression, and life transitions.

I use an integrative, culturally responsive approach that draws from several modalities, including narrative therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. Additionally, I am able to communicate in Arabic.

If this resonates with you, feel free to book a consultation with me. I am here to be alongside you throughout your therapeutic journey!

You’ve tried to push through. Maybe you’ve even tried therapy before — and it helped a little, but something still felt out of reach. That’s not a failure. It means you need an approach that goes deeper than words — one that honours your whole self, including where you come from.

You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm. You might be in recovery or questioning your relationship with substances. You might carry wounds from your past, including intergenerational and colonial trauma, that show up in your relationships, your body, or your sense of self. Whatever you’re carrying, you deserve a space where all of it is welcome.

I work with adults living with trauma, addiction, and mood disorders using body-based, experiential, and expressive therapy. My approach draws on somatic psychotherapy, DBT, EFIT, and the arts — because healing happens not just in the mind, but in the body, the nervous system, and the heart.

As a Métis therapist, I bring cultural understanding and lived experience to this work. I offer a space where Indigenous clients can feel genuinely seen, without having to explain or justify their identity, their history, or their worldview.

I am a bilingual (English/French) psychotherapist (qualifying) and military spouse with lived experience in the realities of service life: frequent relocations, operational stress, and the emotional impact of transition. I’ve supported pregnant and postpartum women in preventing depression and anxiety, worked with immigrant and multicultural families under diverse conditions, and contributed to research on mental resilience.

My approach is person centred, oriented in solution, collaborative and culturally sensitive. I help clients identify strengths, restore psychological balance, and adapt with purpose through life’s challenges.

My goal is to provide grounded, confidential and personalized support that aligns with the demands of military and family life for members and their families alike, as well as providing care for civilian wellness. I know that reaching out for support can feel intimidating, especially if you’re used to carrying everything on your own. In our sessions, you’ll find a safe and non-judgmental space where you can slow down, breathe, and begin exploring your challenges at your own pace.

I work with young adults and adults including couples.

Together, we’ll work on building coping skills, self-compassion, and confidence as you navigate change.

Hi, I’m Huda!

You may be used to holding everything in, constantly overthinking, or feeling like no one fully understands the unique pressures you carry. When you are trying to honour your roots, navigate family expectations, and carve out your own path, it can be exhausting, and it often leaves you feeling like you have to figure it all out on your own.

My approach is warm, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I draw from CBT, EFT, Narrative Therapy, and somatic techniques, tailoring our sessions to what actually works for you. Psychotherapy

Welcome – I’m Ildemaro, and I’m glad you’re here.

I’m a student psychotherapist currently completing my Master’s in Psychotherapy at McMaster University. My journey into this field began with a deep curiosity about the human mind and a heartfelt desire to support others through life’s many ups and downs.

I hold an Honours degree in Behaviour, Cognition, and Neuroscience from the University of Windsor, which forms the foundation of my integrative, evidence-informed approach to therapy. I work with adults from diverse backgrounds who may be navigating challenges such as trauma, anxiety (including social anxiety), depression, PTSD, grief, relationship issues, and major life transitions. I also have a special interest in men’s mental health, and in supporting individuals experiencing ADHD, OCD, insomnia, and emotional dysregulation.

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), helping clients explore how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected—and how small, meaningful changes can lead to lasting transformation. I also take a person-centered approach, which means I focus on building a genuine, trusting relationship where you feel truly heard and understood. I aim to create a space where you can be your full self without fear of judgment. I also draw from solution-focused and strengths-based approaches, helping you build on what’s already working, discover your inner strengths, and take practical steps toward the life you want. I aim to meet each client where they are and create a supportive space where insight, healing, and growth can unfold.

I am deeply committed to practicing with cultural humility and inclusivity. I believe every person’s story is shaped by their unique identity, values, and lived experiences, and I strive to ensure that each client feels respected, seen, and empowered in our work together.

As a student therapist, I offer low-cost therapy sessions under the clinical supervision of an experienced registered psychotherapist. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, seeking clarity, or ready to begin a journey of healing, I would be honoured to walk alongside you with care, curiosity, and compassion.

I invite you to reach out and book a free 15-minute consultation to explore if we’re a good fit. You don’t have to navigate this alone—I’m here when you’re ready.

Therapy Interns

Hi, I’m Isabella

You might be the person others rely on. The one who keeps pushing through, overthinking every decision, and holding yourself to impossibly high standards. You might be feeling constantly on edge, internally exhausted, and questioning whether you’re doing enough. Or maybe you’re carrying a heaviness that makes you feel disconnected from yourself and others. I understand how frustrating it can be to feel stuck in distressing patterns while wanting things to change, but not knowing where to begin. I work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, and self-doubt. I also work with students and individuals navigating perfectionism, intrusive thoughts, life transitions, and relationship stress.

Under supervision as a current Master of Psychotherapy student, my work draws on evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and somatic-based practices. Using an integrated approach, my aim is to help you begin taking steps towards adaptive coping mechanisms and healthier overall well-being by building on the strengths you already have. Together, we can explore patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships while building practical skills for daily life. My experience in fast-paced crisis settings, supporting individuals experiencing self-harm and suicidality, has shaped my calm, grounded, and compassionate presence during difficult moments.

I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you are used to handling things on your own. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and free of judgment, so you can show up as you are. I take a warm, collaborative, and culturally sensitive approach, working at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for each client. I value understanding each person’s unique lived experience and approach this work with openness, curiosity, and respect.

If you’re curious about working together, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if it feels like a good fit. As a student therapist, I also offer lower-cost and pro-bono therapy to help make support more accessible.

“The wound is the place where the light enters you.” – Rumi

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) passionate about Emotion-Focused Therapy, as well as humanistic and existential approaches, I work from a holistic perspective—honoring each client’s inner wisdom and unique journey. I believe that every person inherently knows what is best for them; my role is to guide and support them in discovering their own answers and finding authentic, meaningful solutions.

I understand the diverse challenges life presents at different stages. I also believe that our identities evolve naturally, shaped by life experiences and transitions. My approach is grounded in the understanding that the body, mind, and soul are deeply interconnected. Often, our symptoms serve as signals, inviting us to pay closer attention to areas in need of care and healing. In addition, I have a special interest in supporting individuals living with chronic pain and chronic health conditions. I understand how ongoing physical challenges can impact not only the body, but also one’s emotions, relationships, identity, and sense of purpose. In my work, I help clients navigate the emotional toll of pain and illness, address feelings of loss or isolation, and reconnect with a life of meaning and value despite health limitations.

In my practice, I integrate Emotion-Focused Therapy, somatic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Pain reprocessing psychotherapy (PRT), narrative therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support individuals, couples, and families. Whether navigating personal growth, relational dynamics, or life transitions, I help clients connect more deeply with themselves and those around them—fostering resilience, healing, and lasting change.

Maheen Hyder

Maheen Hyder

MSW, RSW

Clinical Supervision, Psychotherapy, Social Work

Maheen Hyder is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over a decade of experience in refugee mental health, trauma therapy, and humanitarian settings.

She works with adults experiencing PTSD, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, burnout, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. Many of the people she supports are living with the consequences of experiences that continue to shape the present long after they have ended, including childhood trauma, sexual violence, forced migration, family rupture, loss, discrimination, and prolonged periods of uncertainty.

Her approach is informed by narrative, relational, and trauma-focused therapies. She believes that our struggles rarely emerge in isolation; they are shaped by relationships, histories, communities, and the worlds we move through. Therapy offers an opportunity to better understand not only what has happened, but how those experiences continue to influence the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and make sense of our lives.

Having grown up across multiple countries and cultures, Maheen brings a cross-cultural perspective to her work. She has particular experience supporting immigrants, refugees, third-culture individuals, and people navigating questions of identity, belonging, culture, faith, and life between worlds.

She is interested in the stories people inherit, the stories they resist, and the stories they tell themselves in order to survive. Her work is grounded in the belief that understanding ourselves more fully can create new possibilities for how we live, relate, and move forward.

Psychotherapy

Hi, I’m Mariam 👋

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who takes a holistic, compassionate approach to supporting clients through life’s challenges. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method; instead, I collaborate with each person to create a plan that truly fits who they are and what they’re going through.

My background is a little unique — before stepping into the therapy world, I spent over a decade working in higher education, helping students navigate complex systems and life transitions. Along the way, I saw how identity, mental health, and big life events can shape the way people learn, grow, and connect with the world. That inspired me to expand my work into psychotherapy and focus on helping individuals find clarity, confidence, and resilience through change.

I work with clients navigating:

  • Identity exploration and finding a stronger sense of self

  • Anxiety, stress, and self-doubt that impact daily life

  • Major life transitions and events, such as school changes, career shifts, or relationship changes

  • Neurodivergence, including building executive functioning skills and self-advocacy

  • Emotional expression and relationship challenges, especially in intercultural or multifaith contexts

My style is warm, curious, and non-judgmental. I draw on approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), blending them to meet each client’s unique needs rather than sticking rigidly to one method. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where you can explore, heal, and feel empowered to move forward.

I strive to create a space where your identities and lived experiences are welcomed, knowing that healing happens when all parts of ourselves are acknowledged. I am a first-generation Pakistani woman who grew up in Canada, come from a Muslim background, and am fluent in Urdu/Hindi.
